Michigan Education Justice Coalition Advocacy Day In Lansing

The Michigan Education Justice Coalition (MEJC) convened with partners and volunteers for a momentous event. Teachers, parents, students, and community leaders united with a shared purpose: to address the daunting $4.5 billion shortfall in education funding plaguing their state. asking our lawmakers to make our children’s education a top priority and to fully fund our public schools this budgeting season. Asking our lawmakers to make our children’s education a top priority and to fully fund our public schools this budgeting season.

Our efforts bore fruit in real time. Following a day of discussions with legislators, we had the opportunity to observe a legislative session focused on education matters. It was gratifying to witness that some of the key points we raised earlier were actively discussed in that very committee meeting. Seeing how our actions directly influenced our representatives gives me hope that we can indeed make a meaningful difference in shaping the future of education in Michigan.
